Dollhouse...

So. Dollhouse.

Yeah... So far? Not impressed. Sorry, Joss, but they can't all be winners.

All race and gender issues aside...

*I was bored.

*I don't think the premise of the show can sustain beyond maybe two seasons. If they drag out Echo's memory issues for a whole season, then they can use another season to have her take down the Dollhouse company. After that? Don't know. It's not like with Buffy, Angel, or Firefly, where the show's premises were epic enough in scope to just go on forever.

*First episode, and I'm already tired of watching Echo become new people. This does not bode well for the rest of the series.

*I don't buy this world Joss has created. It feels kind of ridiculous to say that this is the Whedon universe that I buy the least, but it's true. It doesn't feel enough apart of the real world or fractured enough from it to stand alone, if that makes sense. I could buy a dystopian future where people rent these "dolls," but I felt jarred out of the show when we switched over to the contemporary F.B.I guys.

*I don't know enough film-speak to explain the aesthetic problem I had with the show, but I absolutely hated the look of it. Everything looked cheap, like Fox shows from way back when they didn't have any money to properly fund their shows.

*Speaking of cheap... How freaking short was that white dress Eliza D. was dancing around in?

However, reasons this show should succeed?

1. TAHMOH PENIKETT!!! If there's anything this episode has taught me, then it is that BSG did me a grave disservice by keeping Helo's clothes on all the time.

2. Amy Acker. Fred! With facial scars!

3. Nope. That's it.
