Chopin and Liszt...

It is very hard to conduct a love affair with Chopin when there is not a movie about him staring Robert Downey, Jr. Very hard indeed.

Alas, will there ever be a good movie about Chopin? Answer: probably not.

More importantly, how is there NOT already a movie a la Amadeus for Liszt??? This crazy genius man drove women to frenzy, caused them to rip the garters from their dainty legs to throw at him a whole century before women would think to do the equivalent at rock concerts. And the affairs! He led a fascinating life, damn it. Now, where is the movie? All right, I admit that RDJ would be a horrible choice to play Chopin, but he would make a phenomenal Liszt.

I'm afraid I know no Liszt at all. But I was happy to learn that they would be getting Zachary Quinto to play George Gershwin in a movie. Whose last words were, apparently, "Fred Astaire". Thank you wikipedia.

ZQ as Gershwin? Huh. You know, I can't even picture him in a serious role, so that will be interesting.

Mozart is well known from the public who doesn't know anything about classical music. The same can't be said about Liszt. And everyone knows the tragic end that Mozart meets, while very few people know about Liszt's life.

You have your reason why there's a "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart" and No "Franz Liszt".

But a grand, Oscar-y movie about Liszt will fix that! Get some hot young thing to play Liszt, and voila!
