Pointless Whining Over Bleach and Harry Potter...
I know that it can sometimes seem like I only use my livejournal to complain about things... but that's because it's true. ;) Seriously, though. In the wake of a very stressful week and on the precipice of another one, I have two things to address:
BLEACH:
Kubo Tite, do you realize that it's been 12 BLOODY WEEKS since Rukia fell face-first into a puddle of her own blood? 12 weeks since we've seen her? Isn't that a record? Also... OMG, why have all the chapters been so boooorrring? I'm dying here from the sheer lackluster. I don't care about Grimmjow and his unrequited crushes on both Ichigo and Uliquiorra. And judging by Ichigo's equally lackluster behavior, I don't think he much cares either. I want Ruuuuuukia. *Pouts*
HARRY POTTER:
Movie: The sad truth is that I'm not excited about either the book or the movie. OotP was my least favorite of the series. Hate wouldn't be too strong a word. I'm still going to the midnight showing of the movie, but mainly due to habit and because Nicole wants to. Not from any eagerness. What happens in this movie? Oh, yeah, Sirius dies. One more favorite character to throw onto the pile of 'em that have been casualties of the summer blockbuster season. James Norrington, Harry Osbourn, Sirius Black... *Sigh*
Book: This last HP book is make or break for me. Frankly, it has to be amazing (i.e. Pansy and Draco escape together on a boat made of moral ambiguity, pick up Lucius on the way, and then Draco promises me that he'll never cry like that again) or else I'm officially over this fandom. Mainly because I already am. Harry Potter will always be special to me for the obvious reasons. Five years of my life and all. However, I had a hard time appreciating the last two books. A very hard time. Couple that with the fact that I seem to have moved on to another prominent obsession with Bleach...
I barely even care about any of the HP character's outcomes anymore. Kill Harry? Sure, whatever. Somebody recently tried to bring up some theories I used to prattle on what would happen in the final book, and I pretty much gave them the blank stare until I could remember what they were talking about. Do you know how bad it's gotten? I'm not even going to the midnight release of the final book. I think I'm just going to order it online and wait the two extra weeks for them to ship it to me. Then, I probably won't even finish it right away. Yeah. It's actually come to that. All I really want from this book is the physical proof in my hand that a good half of Rowling's readers are disturbingly unable to read ANY kind of subtext even when it ISN'T. Then, I can perform a stupid-dance to the benefit of everyone (including my own family) who believes Snape was actually a traitor and not performing a hated task at Dumbledore's own request. I cannot properly convey the frustration I've had over that one. Ugh.
Also, I am admittedly still curious to see how Rowling is going to handle all of the characters she created that kind of have to die, despite her self-imposed "only 3 characters will die" proclamation. Take Voldemort, and that only leaves two spaces in his hand basket to hell. But there are a good handful of evil (my favorite) characters that can't survive this book if she's going for a resolution wrapped up in happy. Bellatrix and Fenrir are too crazed (awesome) for this world to survive. Not to forget those few characters that she's set up for a glorious, last-minute self-sacrifice. Percy and Pettigrew, I'm lookin' at yous. Also, let us not forget my beloved wild card Lucius, who either has to die or else willingly do his penance in jail after turning traitor on Voldemort and receiving the usual lack of gratitude from the "good guys." Throw in at least one "good" character to the slaughter- because there BETTER BE AT LEAST ONE, ROWLING- and I have no idea how she's going to limit herself to a mere 3.

Yeah, she said it a long time ago. Though, I had already lost my faith in her by that point. I still don't think she has the balls to give us the bloodbath I anticipated so long ago. *Le sigh*

I actually wasn't excited for the movie at all until I happened to walk into my living room right as an advertisment for it was playing. They all looked so magnificent.... So I'm basically only excited because it's pretty...
I'm with you though, this last book better be freaking amazing.

Re: bleach
Personally, I'm all about Veoh right now. If you haven't tried them, you definitely should. :D They're like the much better version of YouTube that doesn't delete anime right out from under you. Plus, you can actually download the videos there!
