I've become obsessed with the show Kings.
But wait, you might say, it's been long since canceled! To which I would say, I know and it sucks. But in order to cope with that sad fact, I'm looking at the first and only season as a mini-series. And, thankfully, one can always look to the source material-- called the Bible, I think-- to fill in the unfulfilled gaps.
Why Kings, you ask? Because it is awesome. I wasn't expecting much from this one because-- and no offense to the fandom horde-- the impression I got from fan commentaries was that this was another guilty pleasure a la Merlin. As in, "not good but has pretty boys in it." Also, I was skeptical, but a modern day David and Goliath allegory turned out to be a really interesting premise.
I love Jack Benjamin like crazy whoa, though I call him Johnathan in my head because that's who he actually is (don't get why they changed his name from one common modern name to another). He's just the right combination of gorgeous (thank you, Sebastian Stan), angsty, jealous, vengeful, slashy, rival woobie to fit my tastes. I love Jack/David, too, but the series finale certainly took them in a direction David and Johnathan did not go in 'Ye Old Book. I have lots of meta-y thoughts about Jack vs. Johnathan, but I don't think anyone cares anymore besides me. Curse you, NBC! Curse you for never giving this show a chance! *Shakes fist*
