I feel soooooo old in Harry Potter fandom. It's a bizarre contrast to being such a newbie to Bleach fandom.

For Nicole, who needs this crazy ass fandom history for her paper. You have the lovely Miranda ([Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]) to thank for the link. ^_^

Seriously, though. Ooooooold. I can't believe how long ago all of that epic crap was. It was so HUGE then. You know, back in the olden days. ;) Cassandra Claire and her myriad of epic struggles within fandom (accusations of plagiarism, legal threats, stalking issues, etc.), the massive walk-out of ff.net, the Aja/Ivy Blossom fallout, etc. There are so many fans out there these days who don't know who Cassandra Claire is or don't remember Veela, Inc. It's so strange to me. It's a dead era. The HP Shogun Era. Not that those shoguns aren't still around, but still. I'm oooooold.

In a way, I'm kind of regaining my fandom youth by hopping over to Bleach. There, I'm a wee bairn. ^_^ And, you know, not so burnt out.

Dude. Do any of you remember when LJ was still "closed" to the general public? Remember when you had to know someone with a code to get one? *Wistful sigh* I remember when Ambrosia gave me one. I treasured it. God, what was wrong with me? ;)

That entire first section where the author ends with the line that goes something like, "Newer people have no idea how big Cassandra Claire was. She was huge. Bigger than BNF." And she was. I wasn't on LJ then, but I remember things like people calling ff.net "The Site That Shall Not Be Named" and the plagerism thing as "That Which Made Us Move." And I'm looking at the dates of this story like, "Oh, sure, December 2003. That was yesterday." Only it wasn't. At all. It was my senior year. Three years ago.

Ew. I obviously need to go make a puppet friend who is twelve and can pretend to be a newbie. I'll call her WhatIsGoingOn.

LOL! We should all make puppet friends. I'll call mine HXD4EVA!!! Then, everyone will know what she likes and be her friend. She'll be the most beloved fake-newbie ever!

You know, I still have nightmares from when I was a wee newbie and all of my favorite authors suddenly upped and deleted everything from their ff.net accounts in protest. Because, you know, ff.net was the only place to read fan fic. ;) Granted, LJ was still a "closed" community back then. Geez. Do you remember when you had to "know" someone with an LJ account who would give you a code if you wanted your own? LJ was so elite back then.

hahaha. yes. It was the creme de la creme of fanfiction. I remember googling Harry Potter fanficiton and having like two pages of search results. And I remember how confusing the old schnoogle set up was, just the penname and story names crammed underneath. Sugarquill.com was my home.

My puppet can be obsessed with your stories if yours will be obsessed with mine. Less likely to trace back to either of us that way. If you could throw in gratuatous compliments on all groups that you're in, like, "AnotherDreamer5 is smarter than Einstein! Her prose CRUSHES all published authors ever!" that would be great. I'll make a creepy stalker icon (once I figure out how to really make them) and randomly post links to your lj and stories on everyone's lj, saying, "She changed my life."

Oh, my sockpuppet will totally stalk you. But in that case, I'm changing her name to AnothDreamr#1Fan. She'll pimp all of your fics everywhere and be your devoted bedside companion when you suddenly fall ill. I'll be awesome. ;)

In all seriousness, that Msscribe business is freaking creepy. Especially since I vaguely remember actually reading some of her posts/stalker angst. *Shudders*

Honestly, just the thought of how much energy and time she put into the effort scares me for real. She had an agenda. She met it. The worst part, in my mind, is that those people actually met her in real life, stayed in her hotel room. There's a certain amount of trust regarding all of that. I'd be terrified to learn how creepy a real life friend was.

My name will be HavingABohemianJubileeThreeTimes. Hope there's no length problem.

I hardly remember the Cassandra Claire stuff...I was probably absent from the HP fandom around that time. ^^;

Actually, I was around back then. XD I just never read the Draco/Ginny stuff because I rather dislike that pairing. Gah. (And plus, two of my HP!OC's were named Cassie and Claire, so I was like, "WTF?")

And my grandma tells me that there is no money in being a book editor. I still want to be one regardless...

Lol. Well, money isn't everything, ne? ;)

Ugh. Draco/Ginny is an abomination. So is Ginny/Anyone. *Steps off soapbox* So, yeah. How bout them Dodgers? ;)

You're right! It isn't!

(What does editing even pay?)

YES. THANK YOU, SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME.

Lol. Not exactly well, but not exactly peanuts either.

Pfft. No one likes Ginny. No one can tell me otherwise. La, la, la. Not listening... ;)

Hey, if I enjoy doing it, I don't really care how much it pays. How do you like it so far? (I've probably asked you that a thousand times...)

Yeah, she's pretty annoying. D: I liked her well enough in the first few books.
