Oh my God, I totally hear you. I was the same way...but nowadays writing anything BUT my novel is a challenge! My English teacher knows a lot about it because it's connected to every creative writing project I did last year...I just can't get away from it.
But it's so true about the whole "instant gratification" thing. It's nice to be a star on the Internet...but being a star in Real Life would be that much more satisfying, because it's a lot more work and takes so much longer. XD
A way to get at least some support would be to post your novel f-locked on LJ. That's what I'm doing. All of like four people ever leave me comments, but I love those people to death. I wouldn't be able to write without them. (There is nothing quite like receiving fanart from your own personal works. It's amazing.)
Are you going to at least give us a preview of yours? *puppy eyes* I would love to read it!
