Those who know me in RL know that I've made no secret of my political crush on Obama. It's a purely superficial crush (the man is fine and his pretty promises of change make my college-age heart flutter), but it is a crush nonetheless. I love the idea of there finally being an African-American president, and I love the idea of that man being Obama. No, I'm not actually going to vote for him (the McCain/Palin ticket has stolen my heart), but I have to admit that there were times when I considered it if only due to those aforementioned superficial reasons and a certain smidgen of leftover political idealism.
However, I know nothing of Joe Biden other than that he has foreign policy experience and this quote from this interview from when he was running for president himself:
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” But —and the “but” was clearly inevitable— he doubts whether American voters are going to elect “a one-term, a guy who has served for four years in the Senate,” and added: “I don’t recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic.”
*Blinks* Huh...
Couple that with the fact that I know at least two people who feel that Obama will certainly be assassinated if he actually gets elected due to his race and that Republican senator who called him "uppity," well... The lack of a color-blind system in 2008 is extremely annoying.
