Mozart is Love (And Obsession)...
Jun. 24th, 2008 11:11 pmUnsurprising since I am a history nerd, there is a handful of historic figures that I am oddly obsessed with: Mozart, Augustus, Henry VIII (and all related Tudors), Alexander the Great, and Leopold & Loeb-- to name a few. (Yes, I am aware that there does appear to be a pattern in the type of man that fascinates me, Marguerite.)
Apparently, I'm currently going through a Mozart phase. (The one on the list who didn't kill people. As far as I know.)
I've been obsessively listening to his music, watching Amadeus (the greatest film ever made), and buying up Mozart books like crazy. I also finally bought a copy of Peter Schaffer's "Amadeus" play. I've been obsessed with it for years and had the privilege a few years back of seeing it performed. Fantastic play. Now, I'm contemplating buying the Director's Cut of Amadeus, since it has so much extra footage and special features. The original theatrical release that I have now on DVD annoys for lack of special features and the fact that you have to actually flip the disc for part two.
Most of the books I bought focus specifically on Mozart's relationship with his wife, Constanze. I have a strange fascination with the wives of famous artists/musicians. Other wives that I'm obsessed with include Camille Monet and Elizabeth Siddal Rossetti. Tragic women whom I can't get enough of.
Have I mentioned that my puppy's name is Stanzi? ;)
