Do You Have Mommy Issues, Kubo?

Totally intriguing discussion at [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]:
THERE ARE NO COUPLES IN BLEACH, AND ANYONE WHO WAS A COUPLE, THEIR LADY IS NOW DEAD. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU, KUBO?
No joke. Love = Death in Bleach. Urahara and Yoruichi don't count, because they're living in sin. ;)
Women, in general, don't seem to do so well in Bleach. They keep getting killed, kidnapped, or impaled through the gut multiple times, Rukia.

Urahara and Yoruichi are already in violation of these laws so whether they're together or apart doesn't really make a difference.
Well, the women in Bleach do a lot better than most. At least when they get kidnapped or impaled or attempted murder, they bounce back and KICK THE ASS of whoever did it instead of running weeping to the hero.

Exactly, does that mean they are born dead? Oo Or maybe they can't have babies at all?

Date: 2007-04-13 08:19 pm (UTC)Born!dead babies make my head hurt. Oh, the implications...
I don't know. I read a fic in which Rukia and dead!Ichigo couldn't have babies, because Rukia's spirit energy wasn't high enough to create a new life. As devastated as that would make me, that theory seems most likely in Bleach land. I mean, why do the nobles have progeny, but the poor saps in Rukongai have to form substitute families?

Date: 2007-04-13 08:32 pm (UTC)The issue of the substitute families in Rukongai still makes me sad. When Ichigo sent the parakeet!boy to Soul Society he said he would be able to see his mom again, and that was such an emotional episode, I loved it. Then we come to the SS episodes and, surprise of surprises!, is almost impossible for someone to find their family in there, and what's worse Rukongai is an awful place to live (die, whatever). So, what the heck? why would anyone want to go there?
As I understand SS is not Heaven, right? If that's true and SS is like purgatory or something, then...how or why are the souls sent there? Oh Bleach, why must you break my brain so?

Date: 2007-04-14 01:19 am (UTC)Why would anyone want to go there? Given the choice, I think I'd prefer to stay a ghost in the human world. At least I'd be able to check in with my family. Then again, getting picked up by a hollow would suck. Of course, there are also hollows in SS... *Sigh*

Yup, but I guess Rukia thinks that SS is the place where souls belong, so she had to do anything to ensure they went there and didn't stay on Earth (and possibly became hollows later on). I also thought Ichigo would want to look for her mother there, but nope, the thought didn't even crossed his mind.
I'm still at loss at the SS/Heaven issue, but maybe KT is going to explain that later? I remember Aizen said something about standing in Heaven, right before he and his minions left SS.

Date: 2007-04-14 02:08 am (UTC)Yeah, Aizen said something about bringing Heaven down and merging it with SS, didn't he? I discarded the statement for crazy-megalomaniac-Aizen talk.
