Welcome, Sophie!

Stanzi has a new sibling!

Meet Sophia Lavinia-- a.k.a Sophie. A.k.a Stanzi II: The Girl Version. They're full biological siblings, and they seem to share the same personality. It's hilarious, and she brings back all the memories of when Stanzi was a puppy (because they look and act exactly the same-- and because it was just a few months ago that he was one). The main difference? Sophie is a cuddler! Unlike Stanzi, who puts up with it for only so long before he tires of humoring the silly humans. If I had gotten them in the reverse order, they soooo would have been named Wolfie and Stanzi.
Sophie used to live with my cousins, but they weren't expecting all the effort required for a Shih-tzu puppy. I tell people that they're remarkably similar to babies (up to and including absurd wake-up times), but they always look at me like, "Okay, crazy dog-lady." I guess you have to have one to know. I know certain former roommates of mine who know the deal, huh? ;)

Re: Did you know I named my car Sophia?

The inspiration hit me on the drive home, there's something very appealing about being one of two batty expats in London throwing dinner parties for the greatest minds of our generation, in the creakiest old house on the street. Surrounded by ewok dogs with elaborate names. We can cut rent for anyone willing to walk all the dogs, clean up after and train them. Meanwhile, I'll be on meal duty, and you can be in charge of drinks. Or if you would prefer, you can be the resident Roman Historian, but that will probably still involve drinks.

Date: 2009-02-19 05:57 am (UTC)No, Sophie is technically a "family dog," but not really since I've so far done all the work with her and she sleeps with me just like Stanzi used to. She's my girl. But in any case, she'll stay here when Stanzi and I eventually move out, so she's not technically mine.
And yes, discussing Roman history very much requires drinks. Many drinks.
